1810 - 1844.  John Wiley Bedford, personal history

 
     The Lyme Heritage Center gained the permission of a descendant of John Wiley Bedford to publish his written personal history in April, 1998.  John W. Bedford lived from 1810-1844 in the North Country and Lower Canada.  When his recollections were written is not immediately known.     
     Phyllis Putnam (Phylputnam@aol.com) did the transcribing.  The history  containing 207 pages is joined by 8 informational Appendices: Maps; Descendant Charts which include ancestors as well as descendants of John W. Bedford; Reprints from "The Founding of the Schools of Lyme and the Pioneers Who Built Them," by Joyce Weese Barr Lance, 1985; Patriot's War reproduced from Haddock's "History of Jefferson County"; Shipwrecked; Old Ruger's Books is a newspaper article re: 1937 arthimetic; Cleanthus' tombstone (a photo), son of John W. Bedford; and a biographical sketch of John's son, Edward Bedford.
