Deaths in the New York Reformer,
1861-1862 - Vol. 2

Richard W. Hungerford, Jr., compiler

The New York Reformer was published in Watertown, Jefferson County.  It covered an eight county-wide area: Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego and St. Lawrence.  This volume is a companion to the similarly titled, Marriages in the New York Reformer, 1861-1866 - Vol. 2.  Its extracted records are invaluable in a state whose official vital records did not begin until the early 1880's.  Newspapers are generally not extracted due to the laboriousness in handling hard-to-read newspapers on microfilm.  Sensational Stories in the New York Reformer, 1850-1861 is the third volume in the compiler's first series. It follows Deaths in the New York Reformer, 1850-186 - Vol. 1 and Marriages in the New York Reformer, 1850-1861 - Vol. 1.
