Although some of the information is outdated, there are chapters which hold information you wouldn't likely find in other places. (For example, see "Looking in Out-of-the-Way Places.") Also, it's chapter on "Old Houses of the North Country" provides an index to surnames appearing in the 1940ish Watertown, Jefferson County newspaper articles which describe stately old homes and the people who lived in them.
