Annals and Recollections of
Oneida County, NY
Pomroy Jones, 1851
This is the earliest, comprehensive history of Oneida
County. Formed in 1798, Oneida County eventually became mother to
three other New York counties: Jefferson (1805), Lewis (1805) and Oswego
(1816). As such, its early recollections are pivotal for the
understanding of all four counties' history. The author's approach
contained a basic introductory chapter (first), a chapter on each Town
(middle) and a chapter on the Native Americans of Oneida (last).
Each Town chapter included histories of early settlers, religious
societies and villages within its boundaries.
893 pp., approx. 6” x 9”. Reprint
is soft-bound. NO index in original.
