Published in 1877, the full title of
this history is “First Fifty Years of Cazenovia Seminary, 1825 –
1875.” Although the Town of Cazenovia is located in Madison County,
New York, most of its students came from central New York with yet a
considerable number coming from all over New York.
The Seminary can be said to compare to our present day high
schools.
Divided into three parts, the Table
of Contents gives a brief description of its several chapters.
Part I gives a history decade by decade. At the end of Chapter III, Fifth Decade, is a list of the
Societies formed with brief descriptions.
Part II is a record of the celebration of the Jubilee of the
Seminary. Part III is a
General Catalogue of students including year entered, place of residence
at time of entry and place of residence in 1875.
Some entries include the student’s occupation, marriage
information, and other limited history.
