Historical Sketch of Hamilton
College
Rev. Charles
Elmer Allison
First published in 1889, the idea for
this history came from an article written for a newspaper. Alumni
desired to know more about their old alma mater... Her founder,
Samuel Kirkland, was an early missionary to the Six Nations. He
desired to found a school for the education of both his beloved Native
Americans and the white settlers. Work began on the 'academy' in
1793. In addition to presenting its history, the author reports on
various alumni who've done well in their respective careers. Included
are nice photos in this book.
