History of Lewis County, New York

Franklin B. Hough, 1860

Part of a series of histories that Franklin B. Hough wrote in the middle 1800's, this 1860 county history follows a familiar pattern: history before the organization of the county; history of each town; history of events special to that county (such as the building of the Black River Canal.)

314 pp., approx. 6" x 9".  A reprint done in 1975 by Richwood Publishing Company of Merrick, NY is hard bound and contains the original index.  As was customary in 1860, indexes contained only the more notable of men and places.  New York Ancestry's index contains approximately 5100 entries.

319 pps., 6" x 9."  Original has a partial index.
