Church History

Black River and Northern New York
Conference Memorial

Vol. 2, 1881

Over the course of 100 years, three volumes were published by Northern New York Conference of the Methodist-Episcopal Church commemorating its deceased itinerant ministers.  These early preachers spent the greater portion of their service traveling through wilderness to reach isolated congregations.  The areas they were variously assigned covered the counties of Jefferson, Oneida, Herkimer, St. Lawrence, Oswego and Lewis counties. In eulogizing each reverend, the author sought to draw his remarks from the deceased's diary (if one available), include his picture (if available) and detail some genealogy, especially that of the principle's immediate family.

472 pp., approx; 8.5 x 6 book.  Original is hard-bound with no index.
